Royal Dublin Horse Show

Since 1867, the Dublin Horse Show is being held in Dublin and has become a tradition ever since. The show celebrates the affinity of the horse and showcases great horse-jumpers each year. The event is one of Ireland’s greatest of the year and attracts many international horse show lovers from all over the world.

Back in the days, the event was organized by Ireland’s Agricultural Society and from 1868 onwards, the event was held on the grounds of Leinster House and organized by the Dublin Royal Society. The purpose of the event has always been to entertain the royal people in town and to award a price to best and quickest horse and its rider. Until 1919, no ladies were allowed to take part in the great competition, it was reserved only to men – can you believe it?

Enjoy national and international horse-jumping competitions, great food, delicious cocktails, perfect shopping opportunities and entertainment for the whole family. Discover the national craft exhibitions, watch the women’s fashion and style on Ladies’ day and drop your kids at the ever-popular Kid’s Zone. Great music is promised throughout the event and magicians, circus shows, puppet shows and much more can be expected.

The world-class equestrian event is held from August 9th until 13th and tickets can be bought here. The location is the RDS Arena, located in Dublin 4, Ballsbridge. Doors open each day at 7am and close at 8pm, except for Sunday where they close one hour earlier.

The Dart takes you to Sandymount Station in no time from where it is only a short stroll to the RDS Arena. Tickets are available to buy at every station. Many buses stop near the RDS as well and your journey can be planned through the Dublin bus app. Obviously, if you like walking, the arena can be reached by foot or simply call a cab that drops you in front of the door.

Don’t miss out on this perfect Summer event, even if you’re not so much into horses and equestrian performances, there is plenty to do for a family day out.
