Tara's Palace Dublin

The ARK Cultural Centre for Children

Teach your kids how to love art and visit the Ark with them. Situated in Eustace Street in Temple bar, it’s easily reachable for family and friends. This place believes in creativity and culture to broaden children’s minds. Sparking children’s creativity is essential and this company tries to do so by involving them in art projects. The program is updated many times during the year and the themes change on a regular basis. Experience something different each time and buy tickets for different events or get a membership if you’re a local.

Tara’s Palace

Also called the Childhood Museum, Tara’s Palace brings back memories and is a unique day out for family and friends. The magical miniature world can be explored in the Powerscourt Mansion in Enniskerry, near the Wicklow mountains. Tara’s Palace featured 24 rooms, each 1:12 dimension. Everything is hand-crafted and painted and suitable for every age. An interactive museum quiz is organized and fun for everyone. This place must be seen to be believed. For a very small fee, the museum opens its doors each day of the week with limited hours on Sundays.

Butler’s Chocolate Experience

If you’ve ever wondered how chocolate is made and what goes on behind the closed doors of chocolate factories, then this is the place you should visit, alone, with family or friends. Since 1932, Butler’s is creating chocolate treats for Irish people, create some yourself, find out about the different tastes and learn all about the company’s success by buying tickets for this wonderful experience. Close to Dublin Airport, this visit can be perfectly combined with a trip to Malahide Castle and Gardens. Bookings have to be made in advance here.

Lambert Puppet Theatre

This amazing puppet theatre has made kids happy since 1972 and is the work of Eugene Lambert. Featuring an auditorium for 250 people, the place is ideal for birthday parties and corporate events. The venue also features a café and sweet shop where also finger puppets can be purchased. The facilities are all accessible for wheelchairs and people of every age are welcome.  The theatre is located in Monkstown which is easily reachable by Dart. If you’re staying with us at The Davenport Hotel, Pearse Street Station is the closest one and has good connections with the beachside areas.

Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium

Greyhound races belong to the Irish culture like horse races belong to the English culture. This stadium is located in Dublin 4, only a 15-minute walk from the city centre, and opens its doors for races on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Enjoy the action from the fantastic bar or elegant restaurant. The stadium offers packages to suit all budgets and is ideal for a family or friends’ night out.

By the way, The Davenport has Family hotel rooms available and we’re located right in heart of Georgian Dublin.
